Hatchie – Giving The World Away Tour
Australian singer/songwriter Harriette Pilbeam, better known as Hatchie, recently released her sophomore album Giving the World Away on April 22nd, 2022.
Less than two weeks after the album’s release, Hatchie began her tour Across North America, with a few stops in Canada along the way. I had the pleasure of attending the final show, of the tour, on May 26th, at The Lodge Room in Los Angeles.
The opening musical guest for Hatchie that evening was Los Angeles-based, Indie-Pop artist Caroline Loveglow. She played a few tracks from her new album titled Strawberry.
Shortly after Loveglows performance, Harriette walked onto the stage, and a packed Lodge Room crowd to the track Don’t Leave Me In The Rain, Obsessed and her 2017 debut single Try. Midway through, my 90’s music-loving heart was full when Harriet performed a cover of Jennifer Paige’s Crush. The set blended Hatchie’s earlier singles, her debut album Keepsake, and Giving The World Away. Hatchie ended the night and tour with a treat for the crowd when she had opener Caroline Loveglow join her for the song Sure.
Giving The World Away is worth listening to if you haven’t listened to it yet. Hatchie manages to maintain her familiar dream-pop sound and expands it by adding a touch of dance music, emotion, and newfound confidence in her lyrics.
Hatchie’s North American tour may have just wrapped up, but you can catch her opening for Alex G later this year on selected dates. Check the image below for a list of dates.
