Jockstrap’s mind bending L.A. performance
The historic Fonda Theatre was abuzz with anticipation as it prepared to host the hyper-inventive London duo, Jockstrap. Their reputation preceded them, promising an electrifying evening of music and performance that would push the boundaries of artistic expression.
Jockstrap, composed of Georgia Ellery and Taylor Skye, is renowned for their genre-defying sound that fuses elements of avant-garde pop, electronic, jazz, and classical music into a mesmerizing sonic tapestry. Their music is an alchemical blend of Ellery’s ethereal vocals and Skye’s intricate production, making it both otherworldly and deeply intimate.
Their performance was a journey through soundscapes that swung wildly between dissonance and harmony, chaos and control. Ellery’s vocal range, at times fragile and angelic, and at others, hauntingly powerful, drew the audience into a hypnotic trance. Skye’s dexterity with instruments and electronics, manipulating and reimagining the sounds in real-time, added layers of complexity to the music.
Throughout the performance, Jockstrap showcased their uncanny ability to blend contrasting elements seamlessly shifting between haunting balladry and frenetic electronic breakdowns, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats.
In the wake of their electrifying performance at the Fonda Theatre, Jockstrap had another major reason to celebrate. The duo announced a fully remixed version of their debut album, “I Love You Jennifer B.” set for release on November 3rd. It’s lead single ‘Red Eye’ (feat. IAN STARR) is out now. This remix album promised to breathe new life into their tracks, reimagined by a diverse array of talented artists and producers.
