Pillow Queens – Santa Ana & Los Angeles
This year, browsing the 2022 SXSW artist lineup, I came across the Irish Indie-Rock band Pillow Queens.
The Dublin-based quartet is composed of – Pamela Connolly, Sarah Corcoran, Cathy McGuiness, and Rachel Lyons.
One of the first songs I had listened to was their latest single, Be By Your Side, off their sophomore album, Leave the Light On, just released on April 1st.
After listening to PQ’s latest singles, their debut album – In Waiting, and watching a few of their music videos, I quickly took to google to see if they would be playing any shows in Los Angeles anytime soon.
Luckily for me, as it turned out, they would be playing two shows in the area. Their first show of the tour was at the Constellation Room in Santa Ana
and the Second at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles. Originally intending to only go to one of the shows, the closer the dates got and, after seeing their performance on The Late Show with James Corden, I knew if I didn’t catch both, I would regret it later. I feel now the right choice has been made by going to both shows.
Pillow Queens were captivating to see live, playing their anthemic tunes with those subtle Irish accents, gritty guitars, and vulnerable lyrics.
Here are a few images I captured at The Moroccan Lounge show in Los Angeles.
