‘Songs My Ex Ruined’ Celebrates It’s 50th Episode with Allison Wolfe
Songs My Ex Ruined, a podcast about songs people can never listen to again because their terrible exes destroyed them forever, hit No. 2 on Apple’s Music Podcast chart at the end of 2023. Now, the popular podcast is ready to celebrate 50 episodes filled with conversations about heartbreak, hilarious sob stories, and great (and okay sometimes not so great) songs.
To mark this milestone, hosts and journalists Courtney E. Smith and Melissa Locker are joined by Allison Wolfe, a musician, songwriter, music journalist, UCLA lecturer, feminist music historian and I’m in the Band podcast host as their guest for this auspicious anniversary. Wolfe has founded numerous bands, including Bratmobile, one of the original riot grrrl bands, Cold Cold Hearts, Deep Lust, Partyline, Cool Moms, Sex Stains, as well as playing with Alice Bag, Dig Yr Grave, Hawnay Troof, and more. Songs My Ex Ruined with Allison Wolfe available here.
Allison joins a list of notable guests that includes musicians Marnie Stern, K. Flay, Sadie Dupuis, and Abigail Barlow; comedians Kyle Gordon, Ivy Le, and Gianmarco Soresi; authors Lane Moore, Nabil Ayers, and TJ Alexander; and podcasters Jane Marie, Ronald Young Jr., and Avery Trufelman.
The show is using the occasion to launch a newsletter and Patreon, where folks can vie for a shot to tell their own stories about songs that were ruined for them.
